You make a great point about our perception of sequels. I’m definitely included in that sect of horror fans who think modern sequels are trash and it really is a hypocritical position to be in. I know and accept that nearly all of the Friday the 13th and Halloween sequels are shit, yet I enjoy them for what they are because they have Jason and Michael in them, respectively.

It’s the classic case of a generation thinking the art they grew up with is always going to be superior. “Kids these days just don’t know a good horror movie….” I think we’re just getting to be old men.

But yeah, I’m still going to see Paranormal Activity 3. And 4. And probably 5 (in space).

I admit that I enjoyed the first two but the bottom line is that people like these movies and they want to see more. That being said, I do believe this franchise is on its way to being run into the ground but I honestly don’t care because most of our beloved horror franchises have. It’s interesting how a lot of horror fans, myself included, think new horror franchises (i.e. SAW, Final Destination) are trash yet we find ways to praise the garbage that we grew up with (i.e. Nightmare on Elm Street, Halloween, Friday the 13th). It’s all the same. Why shouldn’t there be 7 SAW movies? – There are 12 Friday the 13th movies!!!! And most of them were terrible.

In other words, I fully expect the Paranormal Activity franchise to be exploited to the point of shame but I’m ok with that (as long as Rob Zombie takes no part in it, of course).

Two was definitely not as tense as one, it wasn’t just you, and I’ll give the Devil it’s due, that mirror scene is creepy, but I played THAT game as kid too and Mirrors just scare me in general.
